Academics
The most common stereotype about Korean students is that they are good at maths. Although this is partly true, it comes with a cost. Most Korean students whom I know are studying advanced maths that is far more difficult than their current grade levels.
Contrary to popular Korean education, I studied maths the standard way by going through all the material in accordance with my grade level.
This has helped me understand all the material without confusion, and it has helped me build a strong foundation in the subject. As a result, maths has become one of my favorite studies.
Maths Competition
I competed in the SFS Middle Years Math Competition for 7-8th graders as a 7th grader from Chadwick International School.
I came in 4th place, which was the best performance for all 7th graders.
Debate
I am passionate about debate because it brings together the opinions of several people.
Debate allows me to learn new perspectives from others, and it broadens my point of view.
